The Lyric Theatre was opened by 1917. On September 30, 1956 it was closed as the Capitol Theatre. By 1983, at least the front of the theatre had been dismantled and the site occupied by Shermer’s Travel Agency, Photographics Supple, Inc., and B & H Beauty Supply. The rear part of the theatre seemed to be intact; it contained a loading dock for the photo shop. In 1984 the property was purchased by a Finleyville couple.

The Capitol Theatre was in operation by 1917 under the name Lyric Theatre. It was mentioned in an article about the recent sale of the Dreamland Theatre in McKeesport to Frank Panopolis and George Lambru, operators of the Lyric. The article appeared in the March 3, 1917, issue of The Moving Picture World.
I think the Capitol Theater became a Duck Pin bowling alley in the 1960s.
The June 9, 1958, issue of Boxoffice said that the Capitol Theatre in McKeesport, which had been dark for several years, was to be converted into a bingo parlor.
Al Weiss dropped the lease of the Capitol which closed permanently on September 30, 1956. After nearly two years of vacancy, it became the Bingo parlor that was protested by a number of local churches worried that it was cutting into their Bingo profits. Though not for changing in the theater’s name, it was officially renamed as the Capitol Auditorium for its post-theatrical Bingo and meeting usage in 1958 to 1964. It seems to have been repurposed for a retail store in 1964.
