Visited this cinema today to watch Sonic 3. First time I have seen a film here in over 23 years. Back then it was a Canon Cinena and was quite a flea pit. It’s now more stylish and upmarket. The original screens 1 and 2 are still very small. I watched Sonic in the newer ‘Premier’ screen, nice manually reclining seats, sight lines. The 4K projector gave an excellent image, sound was less noticeable. The screen is of average size, it does have curtains, but sadly these were not used.
Manager/Projectionist Patrick Church wrote a book with details on his days at this theatre. It is called THE SMALLEST SHOW ON EARTH.
Can any other cinema or theater boast the number of owner and name changes? Local movie-goers must be dizzy when trying to remember the present name!
