The Trent Theatre opened in late-March 1926 and was built on the site of the former veterinary stables of Dr. Ralph C. Titus. Odeon Theatres Canada took it over during the late-1940s, retaining the Trent Theatre name until it was renamed the Odeon Theatre in 1953. It was renamed the Centre Theatre in 1962 after 20th Century Theatres took over the theater.

Toronto-based United Century Theatres would later operate the Centre for several years during the 1970s until independent chain Tarrant Entertainment Limited took over the Centre in 1978. Tarrant both twinned the Centre in 1980 and added a third screen in 1985.

The Centre Theatre has reopened on March 28, 2025 as the Centre Cinemas, bringing back first-run films in Trenton after several months of closure.
