The Metro Theatre in Luqa appears to have been built in the late 1920’s or early 1930’s and I am guessing would have seated between 800 and 1,000 in stalls and single balcony.
The foyer, which in 2008 is the only portion of the building to survive, was at a lower height and quite possibly was a pre-existing building. The facade shows that the auditorium ran along the street and was decorated at upper levels by Art Deco style bands which swept down to the ground at the edge of the foyer.
The auditorium has been entirely demolished and replaced by a branch of the Bank of Valletta, most likely within the last 15 years.
