Opened around 1903, at least the (rather narrow) frontage of the building was re-modeled in January 1940 into an Art Deco style. It operated as a cinema into at least 1980, when it is listed as operating films and part time bingo.

It was in use as F.F.D.R. builders merchants. It was destroyed in an arson fire on 18th September 2025.

The Cinema De Luxe was never owned by JB Milne, the other cinema in Lochgelly was operated by JB Milne, the Opera House. The Cinema De Luxe was owned and operated by the Commercial Cinematograph Company ( my family’s firm) until various change of ownership from 1970. The building, shown, was built and officially opened in January 1940.
