Located in the district of Roma, between the city centre and the up-market district of Miraflores at the Lima Centro end of the Avenida Arequipa. The Cine Roma opened in July 1956 and is designed in an Art Deco/Art Moderne style, originally having ‘Art Moderne’ style script letters on top of its marquee spelling out ‘ROMA’. The total seating capacity of 900 in the auditorium was divided into 550 in the orchestra level and 350 in the raised/stepped mezzanine level at the rear.
It was a very popular cinema to see musicals, with big hits being "West Side Story" and Pink Floyd’s "The Wall" both playing for many weeks. “Star Wars” also had its major first run here and independent films were also popular. The Cine Roma was well known for its queues, due to playing very popular films in a relatively small cinema, but apparently that was all part of the experience of going to the Cine Roma.
Later tripled, it was closed in around 2003 and it has been converted into a bank for ONP.
