The Antelope Theatre was constructed by Dave Roach in 1948 on the site of today’s Lancaster Performing Arts Center. It was opened with Cary Grant in “Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House” and originally had one screen; at some point, the balcony section was converted to a second screen.
The Antelope Theatre had ceased operating as a movie theater by the mid-1980’s. In 1990 it was torn down to make way for the new performing arts center, which opened in 1991.
