The 7-screen Arena 7 multiplex was independently operated by the Irish owned Neyrex company. It opened on 6th December 1996. It was housed in the former Victoria Railway Station and was adjacent to the Nynex Arena, a huge multi-purpose indoor arena, that changed its name to the Manchester Evening News Arena (M.E.N. Arena) in December 1996.
Seating capacities in the Arena 7 were; 138, 143, 287, 247, 217, 370 and 156. The Arena 7 was closed on 19th October 2000. It was the first multiplex cinema to close in the United Kingdom, blame was put on competition from other multiplexes. It was converted into a call centre.
