“The Encyclopedia of the American Theatre Organ” by David L. Junchen, pg. 628, lists the Monarche Theatre as having a two manual, 10 rank Smith theatre pipe organ. This entry does not give any more details such as the installation date, blower serial #, etc.

Does anybody know what happened to this organ and where it (or its parts) are today?

Thanks!

In 1924 the Monache Theatre was being operated by the National Theatres Syndicate, according to the May 24 issue of The Moving Picture World.

In 1946-47 I lived in Porterville..went to Bellview Elem. My friend Kenny and I would go to the Monache early Saturday morning and scrape gum off the floors and from under the seats and for this Mr. Howell would let us go to the Saturday matinee. Great memories. And at the Porter, Mrs. Howell always sat in the back far right loges. Movie tickets were 12 cents in those days. So for a quarter you could go to the Molino as well. Life was good.
