Route 125 Drive-In

The Plaistow Drive-In was opened by 1957 when it was operated by Daytz Theatre Enterprises Corp. Bob Barsamian was the owner of this drive-in back in 1963. Capacity was 700 cars. The Plaistow Drive-In was still open in 1978. The screen and speaker poles were removed in 2016 for the widening of Route 125.

Approx. address for this drive-in was 107 Plaistow Road. The southern section of Rose Ave was the entrance. Screen is still up and all ramps are there.

It appears that the screen has been torn down. The area where it was located has been cleared out.

Was Plaistow Road also known as Route 125?

Does anyone remember or have pictures of the second-run twin cinema that used to be off main street? As I recall, there was a parking lot that you would pull into off Main and on the sides of the lot were stores. The cinema sat facing Main, somewhat at an angle, in the very rear of the parking lot. I believe the marquee was mounted on the roof of the awning that came out over the entrance. I think the same people that owned Salem Tri Cinema (before selling to Showcase Cinemas) owned this twin.

Looks like the Drive in theater was right across the road from 107 you can still see a faint hint of the ramps. Latitude & Longitude on Google maps are 42.839050, -71.108501.

The foundation of the screen and snack bar remain, as well as a few speaker poles scattered throughout the property but more in the woods at the rear of the lot. If anyone has any pictures of when this theater was open I would greatly appreciate it.
