The Drive-In Cinema opened in Nairobi around 19th March 1958. Initially it was attended by white patrons only but was opened to all Kenyans in 1963 after Kenya’s cinemas were integrated. The drive-in was later renamed the Fox Drive-In. After years of showing American and British films, the drive-in satisfied local audiences by showing primarily East Indian ‘Bollywood’ films. The drive-in was rumored to be closed in 2009 and replaced by a large shopping mall with a six-screen multiplex. It is still standing on Thika Road.

The Fox Drive-in may have re-opened?
There is some footage(done by British Pathe(newsreel?)) on youtube(drive in cinema in Nairobi) showing the building and opening night(no sound).
Not sure if its open but its still there complete as of January this year.
What is that area to the right of the drive-in theatre site and the road on the right of the photo(it seems to be connected to the drive-in site by a small road between the two sites)?
