Opened as the Ray Theatre in around 1918. Owned by William and Sydney Volk of Minneapolis, they already owned the Camden Theatre and the Nile Theatre in Minneapolis when in the 1930’s, they added the New Ray Theatre. They also operated the Falls Theatre in Minneapolis and the Robin Theatre in Robinsdale.
The New Ray Theatre operated at least to around 1955. It was then renamed El Rio Theatre and was closed in the 1960’s and soon demolished.
