Falcon Theatre

The Falcon building still stands and the theater was located, most likely, in the spot now occupied by a nightclub.

In its heyday, the Falcon, known earlier as the Music Box and, earlier, the Rialto, was one of at least 8 movie houses in the city which totaled about 8,500 seats at a time when New Britain had a population of only 68,000.

The former Falcon Theatre is now used as athe Arkadia nightclub. Their website is at http://www.clubarkadia.com/ .

Actually that website was wrong, it’s http://www.arkadiaclub.com/ and they list themselves as 16 Broad Street.

The Rialto is featured on page 86 of Images of America: New Britain. There’s actually 3 separate books in the series on this city.

There’s another picture on page 83 of Images of America: New Britain #2 of the fire at the Falcon.
