The Chaska Cinema opened in October 1994 with four screens. Operated by Five Star Cinemas, it was renamed Rex Cinema later operating with six screens. It was last renamed Rex Cinema. It showed first run movies. It was closed in January 2012.

The REX was closed down sometime earlier this year in January and was recently purchased by a church group. The last owners (Five-Star-Cinemas) don’t have anymore information listed on their website.
Actually, According To The Minneapolis Star Tribune, It Was First Known As Simply “Chaska Cinema”, Opening In October 1994.
Not sure why someone stated that this closed as Chaska Cinemas. Here is the original article (with some good noted history of the theater), which mentions that it definitely closed as the Chaska REX.
