This theater is not closed; it has been renamed (as can be seen in the photo) as the Scottish Rite Auditorium and is used as a Masonic hall and as a rental auditorium.

The April 10, 1937, issue of The Film Daily said that he State Theatre in Cambridge, Ohio, had been opened by the Shea circuit. Shea also operated a house called the Cort Theatre in Cambridge at that time.

Does this ever host any performances or show any films? Doesn’t seem to have a web page. Should probably be listed as closed.

They appear to have had live events, all local in nature, a couple of times a year in recent years, some being pictured on their Facebook page, but the page has no listing of upcoming events. I would imagine the Masons hold their non-public meetings in the building, too, so it’s in use but not very usefully to anybody else.

A couple of photos on the Facebook page show the theater’s proscenium, another has part of the auditorium side wall in the background, and a third shows a bit of the back wall. It’s nice looking if fairly plain interior, and looks to be in good condition.

Rather bizarrely, their Facebook page has a link to a web site for a different Scottish Rite Auditorium in Collingswood, New Jersey.

Yeah, I can’t figure out that facebook page. It’s a complete mess. The title picture is the one in St. Louis, as are a few of the event photos. Getting FB to correct anything like that is a complete nightmare.

Eight photos from 1937 and up added. Appears to have closed as a movie theatre in 1990.
