Opened in 1905 and built of Welsh stone, the Maerdy Workmen’s Hall was listed in the 1937 Kinematograph Yearbook. It had a 31 feet wide proscenium, and there was also a dance hall attached to the building.
It was still open as a cinema in 1966, but had closed by 1980. Since derelict for many years before demolition in 2008.
