I found one link that said the Liberty Theatre opened in 1939 seating 378. The theatre is located on Main Street E at Water Street. It was closed in 1980.
The theatre was empty in the early-1980’s. The building survived until at least 2005, but has since been demolished.

Not sure if this link works as it’s from Newspaper Archives.com. The article is from the Kittanning Simpson-Leader edition of April 24, 1975 (page 10)about the Liberty Theater. A wonderful article about John D. Nagy, who owned and operated it, and his lifelong love of movies and career in the theater industry.
The above Photo of The Liberty is from around 2005. Given the poor quality of the shot I probably would not have uploaded it ,But since there are no other photos I thought would share it. Some notes on the back of the picture are as follows, Approximately 300 wood seats,a mini Family balcony, 2 projectors , back stage sound , a baby cry room upstairs, built in 1939, dark since 1980. The liberty had an indoor enclosed box office. It had been dark since 1980 and a recent google search appears to show an empty lot at 820 main street so I assume it has been demolished .
