Palace Super Cinema

This was one of the early Haggar circuit cinemas. It opened as the Picture Palace in March 1914. By the 1920’s it had been re-named Palace Super Cinema. The proscenium was 20 feet wide.

In around 1955, a 27 feet wide CinemaScope screen was fitted within a new and curtained proscenium. The seating capacity had now been reduced to 440.

The Palace Super Cinema was closed in the late-1960’s. It became the Abercynon Ex-Servicmen’s Club & Institute. In the late-2020’s it became a bar named Brownys Bar.
