The Village Hall on Anyards Road was built in 1887. It was screening films from around 1916, initially just on a Saturday evening. By 1921, Thursday evenings had been added. It stopped screening films in around 1929, never converting to sound films. It has since been demolished.
Not to be confused with the Village Hall on Lushington Drive, built in 1987. In 2009, the building on Lushington Drive is in use for meetings, special events and receptions.

The current village hall was built in 1987 and located on Lushington Drive. The original hall, the subject of this website was located on Anyards Road and has been demolished for flats to be built.
The original hall was opened in 1887, an entrance was dedicated to the fallen of WW2, the hall had been a British Restaurant during this time. The commemorative plaque was moved to the new hall and re-dedicated to the fallen.
