Opened by 1958, this single-screen drive-in located near the Minnesota border had a large screen tower and room for about 350 cars. It closed around 1990 or 1991.
Plans were in the works in 2001 to reopen the Hilltop as the Atomic Drive-In, which would have shown classic drive-in movies, but unfortunately, this never came to fruition. Today, the former drive-in is used for outdoor church services.

Hello,
The Hilltop has been closed for a long time but is used now as a Drive-in church (believe it or not!) It’s not actually in St Croix Wi. It’s along the St Croix River in Houlton WI on Hwy 35. The next time I drive by I will take a better look and see what’s left of it.

A more accurate address for this theater is 1433 Main St, Houlton, WI 54082. This points directly to the entrance road. Though falling apart, almost all of the drive in is intact.
Please update.
The St. Croix Hilltop Drive-In probably dates back as early as the early 1950s. A 1949 aerial shows that the theater hasn’t been built yet, but a 1957 aerial shows the theater in operation.
The panels have been taken off the screen leaving only the skeleton.
