The Dunlap Theatre was opened by 1906. It suffered damage from a fire in July 1936. Repairs were carried out and it reopened as the Strand Theatre in early-1937. It was still operating in 1985.

The Strand might have been the successor of the Dunlap Theatre, which was listed in Julius Cahn’s guides for 1906-1907 and 1913-1914. The September 12, 1936, issue of The Film Daily reported that the Dunlap Theatre in Clarksville was being rebuilt and refurnished after having been damaged by a fire about two months previously. As noted in my earlier comment, the Dunlap Theater was listed in Cahn guides at least as early as 1906.
