The Joy Drive-In opened on September 25, 1948 with Zachary Scott in “Ruthless”. It was located between Cisco and Eastland. Among the original stock holders were Joy N.Houck of New Orleans and E.C.Houck of Dallas. The theater was managed by J.T. Edwards.
One of the original projectionists hired for the Joy Drive-In was Glen Carr who kindly provided the details for this listing. The Joy Drive-In closed permanently on August 3, 1967 when it was destroyed by a fire.

A movie ad from 1954 for the Joy Drive-In in Cisco Texas.
From Cisco Texas an entrance ticket to the Joy Drive-In theater.
Guys I have it parking 250 cars and was owned in 1956 by H and B Theatres.
From 1965 a movie ad for the Joy Drive-In in Cisco.
Located on Hwy 6 between Cisco and Eastland. Here’s a link to the lot, very, very faded, but still barely perceptible.

Need an address, pictures, price of popcorn, etc….
H & B Theatres stood for Houck and Bounds Theatres, Joy Houck’s partners being C. C. and Leo Bounds. The Bounds were also partners with Houck in the Leo, Palace, Ritz and Joy in Texarkana, at least in the late 40’s.
This is an awesome site for me to run across. My dad is The J T Edwards that managed this drive in. He later moved to Hammond, LA and opened his own Drive In and he named it Joy Drive In as well.
A closer address (at least for Google) is HWY6 and Rd 101, Cisco, TX. The drive-in was located about a quarter-mile to the east of the intersection on the north side.
Today, it is an empty field, but you can still see the faded ramps and outline. http://tinyurl.com/z6lo4zs
There was considerably earlier Joy than the start date stated above in the entry as Joy’s Theaters Inc. opened here way back on September 25, 1948 with “Ruthless.” The Joy ended when it burned down on August 3, 1967. The operators placed an ad in which they regrettably decided not to rebuild.
A closer address is 8150 Hwy 6, Cisco, TX.
Google Maps has updated their addresses and this put it on a building immediately to the west of the property.
Today, the property is still empty with power lines running across the middle of it. Although somewhat overgrown, you can still barely make out the ramps and outline.
