There was more than one Majestic Theater in Gainesville over the years, but the original was built by the Harrison Brothers in 1905 and was the first theater exclusively for showing movies. It was built where Prosperity Bank stands in 2007. By the 1920’s movie houses were coming and going at a rapid pace.
This Majestic Theater is not the Majestic Theater which became the historic State Theater and it is not associated with a second Majestic Theater which opened in 1907.
The Harrisons opened their second theater, the Favorite Theater next door to the Majestic Theater. Both theaters were short lived and gone by 1907.
