The Park Theatre opened in the Ball-Shoffner Building most known as the New Bus Terminal Building announced in 1946 and launching in 1948. The Park Theatre launched at the corner spot of the bus terminal with an entry to the terminal and one to the street. It launched April 29, 1948 with the most profitable film percentage wise in Golden Hollywood’s Studio Era with “Mom and Dad.” And it would go on to run a number of other exploitation film becoming the third-tier venue in town.
Showmen’s Trade Review, Jan. 10, 1953: “(C. G.) Roaden disposed of his Park, Middlesboro, Ky., to Price Coomer.”

Hello, great to find this site.
My late grandfather, Mose Reda, was the “Reda” of the Reda Drive-In, later the Rosa Drive-In. It became the Rosa when he sold the theatre sometime in the 50s, I believe, to a man named Koontz.

Drive-ins.com gave Reda as an aka for the Rosa, I believe. That’s all the information I have.
KEN MC, did anyone ever find out if the REDA and ROSA Drive-ins the same theatre?
Boxoffice of October 11, 1947, said that O.G. Roaden expected to have his new Park Theatre in Middlesboro open around Thanksgiving. I can’t find any announcements of the opening, but the Park is mentioned again in the May 29, 1948, Boxoffice which said that it had been equipped by the National Theatre Supply company.
The February 7, 1953,issue of Boxoffice said that the Park Theatre had been taken over by Price Coomer of Harlan, Kentucky. On March 4, 1956, Boxoffice announced that Price Coomer’s Park Theatre was down to four-day operation.
After that I don’t find the Park mentioned again until February 24, 1975, when it is referred to as the J.C. Park Theatre (for the only time) in an item that says the house was now being booked by Interstate Theatre Services rather than Tri-State.
Funny you should ask, Mike. I added it this afternoon. It should show up tomorrow.
Yeah, it is on an off street from the main business district, Parts of the ROSA Drive in in Middlesboro were standing. The concession and booth on one level still standing. Haven’t found anything on the ROSA drive in yet on CT.
If you map it as 141 S. 20th, the theater shows up.
