The Hi-Vue Drive-In was opened on June 19, 1952 with Tony Curtis in “No Room for the Groom”. It was operated by J. Blevins. In 1963 it was renamed Sky-Tel Drive-In. It was later operated by Mrs C.J. Otts. Taken over by new operators it was renamed Rebel Drive-In on August 2, 1973. It was still open in 1983, but had closed by 1995.
As of 2009 the screen, box office and concession stand remain standing and overgrown with brush and weeds. By early-2025 the screen had been demolished, and the site was used for storage.

From Dublin Texas a photo of the Rebel Drive-In Theater.
The Hi-Vue Drive-In was opened on June 19, 1952 with Tony Curtis in “No Room for the Groom” likely on a ten-year lease. The theatre stayed the Hi-Vue for ten years through the 1962 season.
The theatre then changed names to the Sky-Tel Drive-In Theatre in 1963 under a new operator and likely on a new lease.
On August 2, 1973, operators and Civil War buffs Linda and Danny Poor changed the theatre’s name to the Rebel Drive-In Theatre.
every thig remains including the ticket booth
2554 highway 6 dublin tx is a closer address than the one provided please update
As of early 2025 the concession building and ticket booth have been torn down. A sign on the fence says “Shamrock Storage-Dublin”. So I assume the screen tower will be coming down soon also for the construction of the storage buildings.
An update from the previous post….the screen tower is gone and the official name of the storage units are the “Shamrock Drive-In Storage”.
A closer address is 2130 Sheehan St, Dublin, TX.
Google Maps has updated their addresses and this puts it in the middle of the property.
Looks intact and operational in a 1983 aerial, but by 1995 it had clearly closed.
