As suggested by the ad uploaded last year by dallasmovietheaters, this place advertised as the Baxter Springs Drive-In for at least 1964-65 in Pitcher OK’s Tri-State Tribune.

The screen was damaged by a storm in May 1978. The screen was never rebuilt after the storm.

The last ad I could find for the Twilite in the Joplin Globe was on Sunday, Oct. 30, 1977. The final double feature was “Don’t Look In The Basement” and “Old Dracula”. The ad said “ends Sunday”, so it looks like that was the last night.

“Wendell Peck will manage the Parsons Drive-In for Louis Stein and supervise the Stein Twilight in Baxter Springs. Peck has been with Stein for the last five years, living in Baxter Springs, but has moved with his family to Parsons. Commonwealth Theatres operated the Stein theatres the last two years under a lease arrangement which expired March 1.” — Boxoffice, April 11, 1960

Opened June 11, 1953 with The Magic Carpet starring Lucille Ball.

The Twilite bought a listing in the March 1978 yellow pages, but I couldn’t find any movie ads in the local newspaper that year.

It appears that the base of the horizontal part of the marquee (the part that held up the “theater” lettering) is still standing.

Wrong side of the highway.

Correct address is 3146 Military Ave, Baxter Springs, KS 66713.

This points to the entrance part of which is still there. Most ramps are still visible.

Please update.
