The Majestic Theatre in Mount Penn was part of the building that housed the Mount Penn fire company. It opened as the Majestic Theatre November 10, 1939. Operated for years by a fellow by the name of Eugene Dieter it was primarily a second run neigborhood theatre. For a brief time in the late-1960’s and early-1970’s it ran first run when most of the older first runs in the Reading area had either closed or been burned down.
The Majestic Theatre closed in 1984

The Majestic Theatre building was built by the Mt Penn fire company in 1923 and consisted of an auditorium, social hall and space for the fire company engines. In 1939 the auditorium was converted to show motion pictures.
“The Majestic Theatre closed sometime around 1978 or 1979. I believe that one of its last films was the original "Star Wars”. "
