The Paramount Theatre was opened in early-1952 with 811-seats. Following a refurbishment in 2019, the seating capacity was reduced to 174 seats. On October 1, 2025 it was taken over by Canadian Mental Health Association and renamed Savoy Theatre, screening Michelle Dockery in “Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale”.

The Februay 2, 1952, issue of Boxoffice Magazine had a brief item saying that this theater had opened recently. The manager was named Harold Warren, and the theater was being operated in partnership with Famous Players Canadian.
The Paramount has had new luxury recliner seats installed to replace the previous seating as part of recent renovations that have basically turned the auditorium inside into just another black box, just like many of the newer theatres opened by Landmark and Cineplex (along with renovations of some of their older theatres) in recent times. With the addition of the new seats, seating has been drastically reduced (based on a seat count in the picture below, according to this Facebook post) to 174 seats.

According to this article in the Alberni Valley News, the Port Alberni branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association will be taking over management of the Paramount on October 1 and will be renaming the theatre as the Savoy Theatre:
