A closer address is 1920 W Dickinson Blvd, Fort Stockton, TX.

This puts it right at the entrance to the drive-in where an O'Reilly’s Auto Parts store currently sits.

A 1957 aerial shows the drive-in operational, but by 1984 it had been long demolished.

It’s pretty difficult to see any remnant of the drive-in. Particularly as its shape was defined by two major roads. But if you squint you can see a few parch marks of where some of the ramps used to be.

Billboard, May 23, 1953: “Theater Enterprises, Inc., has opened three new drive-ins in Texas. … Guy Moses, manager, opened the Trail Drive-In at Stockton.”

A note further down in the same column clarified what happened. “Remodeling of the Trail Drive-In Theater, Fort Stockton, Tex., has been completed, according to G. C. Moses, manager. Improvements included installations of more than 200 speakers, erection of a new screen, neon lighting on the front, a new box office, marquee, concession stand and general lighting of the drive-in.”

Looks like the Trail existed during late 1948. From the Jan. 1, 1949 issue of BoxOffice: “FORT STOCKTON, TEX. – The Trail Drive-In gave away one-half ton of oranges and grapefruit during the holiday season. The Trail shows American and Spanish films and the citrus fruits were purchased from the Rio Grande valley.”

The drive-in will map to the address above. It is still visible on Google Earth.
