Boxoffice, May 2, 1960: “The Fox Drive-In, Aiken, S. C., reopened under the new ownership of Charles Utley”

Boxoffice, June 8, 1964: “AIKEN, S.C. - Charles Utley, longtime exhibitor in the Carolinas, has purchased the Fox Drive-In which he had operated for the last five years on lease from the Consolidated Theatres of Charlotte.”

I remember going there as a child in the 60’s. Hard to imagine it now but there was field partially surrounding the drive-in. Can’t remember for sure, but it was corn or cotton.

Sept 1960 at the FOX DRIVE-in a little movie that caused a little stir in this conservative town,“THE MATING URGE” Ist run in the Augusta-Aiken area, Realism and Startling the ad read.Filmed around the world.There was a second feature,but not in the ad,also in color.

How did i forget this classic, GONE WITH THE WIND plays at the Fox Drive in on JULY 9 1970. probably the last time it ever played on the FOX screen.

Across the river in Augusta, The FOX DRIVE IN in Aiken is playing A FINE PAIR,like the SKYVIEW DRIVE IN. However, instead of an Elvis second feature THE FOX has Gregory Peck in THE STALKING MOON. The ad says two first runs!

According to Bill Barkley Aiken County resident THE FOX DRIVE in was the exact duplicate of THE HILLTOP DRIVE IN in North Augusta, S.C. He said it was owned by CONSOLIDATED out of Charlotte.

I do remember going by the FOX DRIVE IN as a child when my parents drove to Aiken on Whiskey Road. I remember a pretty large screen at least for a 9 year old. It was running a movie,but i can’t remember.
