This was a drive-in theater that was in the far corner of town, just up the road and to the left of the high school, I think. I was just kid when I was taken there so I don’t remember much, other than it was there. I remember that the screen sat against the woods. The Charleston Drive-In was opened on May 10, 1951 with David Bruce in “Young Daniel Boone” & Armand Denis in “Savage Splendour”.
By 1955, it had been renamed Family Drive-In.

THE CHARLESTON DRIVE IN in 1956 parked 275 cars and was owned by E.L. ORNSTEIN , a man that owned several Drive ins in your State.
Approx. address for this drive-in was 1490 Market Street.
Opened as the Family Drive-In by Fred Belcher in May of 1951. It advertised only as the Family Drive-In during its run.
Aka Charlestown Drive-in according to Drive-ins.com.

The screen and projector building stood until the late 90’s, Google Earth shows them still there in 1998 but gone by 2003.
Opened on 10/5/1951 as The Family Drive-in with “Young Daniel Boone” and “Savage splendor”.
A closer address is 1510 Market St, Charlestown, IN.
Google Maps has updated their addresses and this puts it on the residence that sits next to the property entrance.
The property itself is still empty with parch marks of the ramps and outline still showing. It’s also for sale as of the July 2023 Google Street view.
