Avalon Theatre in White Bear was open long after 1956. As a 9 year old, my family moved to White Bear in 1969. The weekend we moved in, my parents sent my sister and I to the Avalon to get us out from under foot for a few hours. Saw John Wayne in the Hell Fighters. Scariest childhod theatre experience was at the Avalon. Saw 20,000,000 Miles to Earth and another horror flick. To scared to close my eyes. To scared to leave! Hey! I was 10! Lol!
