Located in Staines-upon-Thames, Middlesex, to the west of Greater London. The New Empire Cinema was opened in 1912. Seating was provided in stalls and circle levels, and it had a 25 feet wide proscenium.
The New Empire Cinema was still listed in 1940, but had closed by 1954. It re-opened and was still open in November 1961 when it had been renamed Paris Cinema. It had closed by 1962.
It later went into commercial use, and a false ceiling was inserted, covering the original decorative ceiling in the auditorium. This was revealed again when the building was being demolished in late-1997.

The cinema finally closed in 1959 and was managed by Middlesex Cinemas. One source says its final name was the Paris.
I have seen a photo of the Cinema still open in late 1961 (possibly 12th November – Armistace Day parade in photo), showing “The Young Doctors” starring Ben Gazzara which was released that year. It is clearly signed up as the Empire (not Paris).
An OS map from 1962 has the cinema marked as “Paris Cinema (Disused)” so it definitely seems to have been renamed at some point. I guess it must have closed down shortly after the above photo was taken.
