Located in the southeast London district of Lower Sydenham. The address given was 1 Meadowcroft, Perry Hill, which doesn’t map correctly today. Lower Sydenham Social Club was a working men’s club, that began to screen films for its members by October 1908. It became a public cinema from 31st January 1913 when it was known as the Garden Cinema.

The Garden Cinema was closed sometime between 5th September and 31st December 1914. Closure came as a result of the commencement of World War I.

Meadowcroft became a numbered premises in the 1930’s, in this case it was number 244. Demolished in the 1980’s, 1, Ardley Close, SE6 4HB has been built on the site of the former club, with a monster block planted in the green for good measure!
