I am sketchy on details…I think the Ritz as an African American Theatre was closed by the early 60’s. It was disused for a while until some enterprising guy got a lease on it and opened it up just to show-‘I Am Curious Yellow’…which ran for months until it was replaced with-‘I Am Curious Blue’.
You are correct about it being strictly an Afro-American theatre, being vacant for a while, and then reopening with I am Curious (Yellow) in the late 60’s. It didn’t last too many years as a porno theatre.
Didn’t this theatre also show Deep Throat with Linda Lovelace?
