The Bijou Amusement Co. opened the 400 seat Ritz Theatre in the early-1940’s. The theatre was located on Lasalle Street at Felicity Street. This was an African American Theatre. After closing it became the New Hope Baptist Church.

The Ritz Theatre closed in the mid-1960’s.
