This nice theater was operated many years by COTSA (COMPANIA OPERADORA DE TEATROS)as well as most of the theaters in the city.
Very spacious, we enjoyed many great movies from the time.
The most I remember from this theater is the big advertising mural that was displayed on one of the sides of the structure showing a big girl picture holding a lemon. (probably advertising the LEMON SUPERMARKETS chain).
Does anybody remembers this..?

Cinema Tijuana 70 was built in the late 60’s. It opened in 1970. The lemon advertised in the huge wall of the parking lot was a nice looking mexican housewife pushing a shopping cart with a huge lemon on her side. It was for Mercados Limon.A local supermarket chain owned by the Limon brothers, back in the day. The other competitors were Cali-Max owned by the Fimbres family in Tijuana too. Cinema TRijuana 70 was built in the late 60. It opened in 1970. They used to play latest american released movies such as The French Connection, The Exorcist, Papillon, 007, and a few italin comedy movies with Lando Buzzanca. Now, it’s a religious gathering run by some money making Brazilians making a buck by using the gospel and capitalizing as any other franchise. There were other movie theatres such as Cine Bujazan, Roble, Reforma,Variedades, Zaragoza, Gran Cinema, and for the very under priviledged,“Cinelandia” or “El Piojito”. I used to work for the COTSA organisation. They were out numbered by Organizacion Ramirez. That’s why they are out of business. Also, The movie goers were looking for changes. COTSA was very stubborn to adjust to change. There we have it. Now, The quality of running movie theatres compared to the old ways is very poor. Might as well, go to a PPV, DVD, CABLE. You can always smell the popcorn from home too! There are a few exceptions though. Nothing will ever replace the “big screen”.
