The theatre was located on High Street. It caught fire in 1952, but is still listed as open in the 1955 FDY so either they fixed it up or the book was behind the times.

The Newville Theater Is First Planned On October 10th, 1935. Unfortunately, It Didn’t Open Until 1939. Yes It Is Closed On March 14th, 1952 Because Of The Fire That Destroyed The Curtain, And The Floodlight That Was Immediately Set On Fire, But I Think The FDY Is Lying.
According to the website for the Cumberland Drive In in Newville PA (http://cinematreasures.org/theaters/9463) Donn Mowery took the insurance proceeds from the Newville Theatre fire and used them to build the Cumberland Drive In … which is still operating to this day.
