Country singer/performer did a video at this drive in theatre. His song, “The Chain of Love”, Recorded in 1999 & released in 2000.. Check the video out here:> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m0aLT_dhiXY RAC Photography / Randy A. Carlisle
Billboard, Sept. 4, 1954: “A twister caused damage estimated at $20,000 to Starlite Drive-In, Brenham, Tex. C. B. Schroeder Jr., who with his father operates the drive-in, said that the loss was covered by insurance.”
And the screen tower was still intact as of a March 2019 Google Street View.
The property was sold in late 2015 and in early 2016 a heavy equipment company had moved in on the property. The concession building was torn down in early 2016. Just a matter of time before the old screen tower is taken down.
The Starlite is still for sale, but a different realty firm is involved. It’s listed with Searchers Realty (phone (979)830-5200). The first thing I thought of upon seeing the new signs was “The Searchers” with John Wayne.
@ Mike – you’re welcome.
sepiatone.thanks for the update..
Drove past it again in early April. This time, I got a better look at the “for sale” signs. The outfit selling it is The Nelson Company LLC. The number shown was (713)907-3482.
I drove past the Starlite this past Saturday morning. Both the drive-in and the house next to it had “for sale” signs posted. Can’t find anything online about it, though.
PLEASE CHANGE THE ADDRESS:
JUST DELETE THE E AFTER 290 AND YOU WILL SEE THE DRIVE-IN AT THE PHOTO AT GOOGLE MAP.
Thank You
At one time Inde-Ex Booking Service owned this drive-in.
This is the way it pretty much looks as of September 2007. Still looks the same today.

I used to drive past this place a few times a month and it used to look decent, but several sheets of the siding started falling off and it looked awful (see second link below…). The owner has since replaced all the clad with new siding, and it looks tacky with a mixture of old and new siding. But at least it’s protected from the elements now.

Chuck1231, Thanks.
The caption on the photo says Hempstead.
Chuck, I’m confused, the photo you posted says Hempsted TX, is this the same drive-in?
Nick is back. See BILL ALDERMAN’S DRIVE-in.
You old theatre guy you.
Yes,Chuck, In 1956 it parked 300 cars and was owned by C.W. Schroeder.
