The Diaz Theater was on the NW corner of Main and Howard. It played silent movies. Not sure of the exact street address, but it definitely existed in 1915.
According to a 1915 Sanborn map, there was a closed movie theater (“picture show” according to the label) located at about 2128 Main. The map also shows two more “picture shows” on Howard between the library and Main Street.
According to the city directory, 2104 Main Street is listed as vacant from 1924 through 1957. Roma Importing is listed for this number from 1958 through 1962. In 1963 the address once again is vacant. In 1964 it no longer appears which may indicate the space may have been absorbed by another business within the building. I would say it’s doubtful a theatre ever existed at this location.
Hi Kelly, I did some research on the Main Street address but thus far I haven’t been able to determine whether or not a theatre was ever located at that address. The building that currently sits at the site is very old and appears to have had many uses over the years. However, there may be another way of finding out more about that address. I haven’t given up as yet!

I just now verified the address which shows the Carver at 1605 N. Boulevard. I wonder which theatre was at 2104 W. Main St. that Chuck mentions above? Time for some research on this one.
The theatre was located on North Boulevard about a block south of Main Street. Main Street dead ends at N. Boulevard so if you turned right from Main onto N. Boulevard the theatre was on the left side about a block down. The I-275 overpass runs right over the property.
I read one comment saying that the theater was located on Boulevard at the end of Main Street.
Our home is O.K. but a lot of places arent as you know.

I remember seeing this theatre years ago after it had been closed for some time. The front doors had been torn off and the buidling looked filthy. I heard it was a very nice theatre at one time but for whatever reason (maybe the location) not very many people frequented it and the loyal neighborhood audience never materialized. It was torn down years ago when Interstate 275 was built. The interstate runs right over the property.
