Opened in mid-September 1947 and closed in September 1982.
Hey that’s my photo. Photo credit: Janet L. Brown Condor
A more accurate address (at least for Google) is 1853 County Road 17-A, Rayland, OH. Today, the property has four large ponds with no trace of the drive-in remaining. http://tinyurl.com/gqxxbkk
This wasn’t called the Rayland Drive-in in 1956,I have it listed ,but no Riverside.
Roughly 1715 Old Highway 7.
Sorry….should say posted by “Sebastian”…not “Riverside” !
My brother Tim Frank & sister Barb Frank use to work at Riverside. Of course I got in free as a youngster, plus the owner spoiled me with free soda & popcorn!!
I remember the painting on the back of the screen of a paddle wheel boat going down the river. Hope someone finds a picture to put on here. I will see if my brother has one.
I was only at The Riverside once back in 1980 or 1981. I’m thinking it might have been the drive-in’s last summer.
It was triple-horror feature that night: Zombie, Blood Beach, and The Boogeyman. I remember the sound system being very poor. You could hear all of the speakers making a buzzing sound throughout the drive-in before the first feature started.
I think some kind of a water treatment plant is now on the former theater property.
my dad has a log book with what movies played that night and how many car loads showed up and how much concession made and everything it truly is a cinema treasure
