In September 1989, Hurricane Hugo blew through and demolished the screens and so the wreckage was simply cleared away. The last time I watched a movie there was spring 1988.

The Southside had some crazy double features that may have been old prints they had laying around. I remember seeing The Terminator upon it’s release in 1984 billed with Dario Argento’s Deep Red (1975). If memory serves me correct, I believe they had pool tables in the snack bar.

It was the southside drive in, run by Floyd theatres out of Lakeland florida. Twin screen, Wednesday night was 50 cent carload night. I ran this drive in for a little less than a year. Floyd theatres went out of business in the mid 90’s and sold all their properties.

The above address will map accurately to the location of the drive-in, which is visible on Google Earth using historic aerial imagery.

GE and 1993 imagery shows a twin drive in at this location:

Looked to be operating at the time.

“got address & photos?”

I found that it was open from ABOUT 1950-1975? I know for sure it was open in 1967.
