By coincidence, Grants Pass Drive In & Flea Market currently is just east of this location @ Redwood & Fairgrounds!

The name Grants Pass should not have an apostrophe in it. According to the town’s web site, there was originally an apostrophe, but it was dropped from the town’s official name early in the 20th century.

The 6 screen multiplex wasn’t put on the site of where the Drive In was. They converted the single screen Cinema Showcase (1111 N.E. D st Grants Pass, OR) to a 6 screen in around 1990, and changed the name to The Movies 6 which just closed about 2 weeks ago (sadly). The Drive In closed in the late 90s/early 2000s, and now an old folks home is there.

PLEASE CHANGE NAME TO:

REDWOOD TWIN DRIVE-IN

AKA

REDWOOD DRIVE-IN

PLEASE PLEASE CHANGE ADDRESS TO:

1400 REDWOOD AVENUE

If the address gets changed part of the drive-in can still be seen to the northeast of the red dot.

Open 1955-2000?

Open for sure in 1967.

Made into 2 screens in the early 1980’s?

Owned by Act III Theaters?

Google Earth in the early 90’s showed a drive-in at this location, corner of Redwood Ave and Redwood Cir:

Currently has 2 assisted care facilities on the property, don’t think a 6 plex was ever built there. Old imagery makes it look like it was twinned at one point.

May be wrong, but a Redwood Drive-In on Redwood Ave makes sense….
