The Meridian Drive-In in Meridian, Mississippi was owned by Moody & Atkins and parked 300 cars. By 1955 it was operated by the Royal Theaters chain, who also operated the Royal Drive-In.
Its been years, but the last time I went through Meridian, Mississippi there was a closed drive-in right off 1-20. I turned off and snapped pictures, but the whole place was fenced in where you couldn’t get on the lot. Could this be the Meridian Drive-In or the Royal Drive-In?
There was no way not to see this drive-in from I-20.

Thanks again,S. sam.
The Meridian DI had a medieval themed playground built alongside the lot, which was open in the daytime and had its own separate entrance facing the street (the playground entrance had castle columns on either side, one of which was hollow and contained a sort of sentry booth headquarters).
Thanks Jay allen.
Take a look at the photos I linked to on the Royal DI also in Meridian. It also shows the castle looking buildings also. They had a place called Royal Land according to the pics.
Yes.I noticed that S.Sam.We never found out when it closed.I think when I went by there in 1975 it might have been closed.
Read the story I posted to the royal DI page….
I doubt that both the Meridian and Royal had similar castle theming. But I could be wrong.
Ah yes, home of the U.S. Naval Air Station Meridian.
Open 1950-1980?
It was open for sure in 1967.
Owners:
1955-1975 Royal Theaters of Meridian who had 11 theaters in Misssippi, Alabama, Georgia, and Louisiana?
1980 International Cinema Corp?
How bout an address, more info and photos?

I passed by the old Royal Drive In in May. The screen tower is still standing and the entire site is over grown. The colorful shell of the screen tower has faded.
This is incorrect! Royal Drive In is on I20. Royal Land, an Amusement Park (1968-1969) is next to it, it had no connection other than ownership. Meridian Drive In was on SR 19 N, the tower was located about where the “back road” into Wal Mart is now. The Village Kitchen (closed in 2012) is now! My Dad, A.L. Royal Sr built all. Anyone with questions, post and I will answer if I can!
The address listed is incorrect.
The address for this Drive-in is 2220 MS-19, Meridian, MS 39307.
This points directly to the entrance road for the theater, part of which is used by Dollar General.
Please update.
