Capitol Drive-In

The Capitol Drive-In in Albany, Georgia was one of four drive-ins in the city. It parked 250 cars, not the largest, but enough that owner J.D. Bush never had to worry about Martin Theatres taking over the city. All locals ran all the drive-ins in Albany, Georgia.

I went to the Capitol Drive-in Theater many times in the mid 1950’s and 1960’s. I am originally from Albany, Ga. I believe that the property/land is now home for the Zion Pure Life Ministries at 710 Moultrie Road.

This most likely closed in the 1960s, and was demolished by the end of the decade.

It may be that parts of the marquee base survive. It’s in the same position and seems to have been modified for the church that now sits on the property.
