To answer a 5 year old debate. Signal theatre did show movies on 35MM. It is also not at the bottom of Signal Towers, however there is an auditorium down there. Signal Theatre was a legitimate movie theatre. It is and has been closed for about 4 years now though.

I picked up a copy of the SIGNAL newspaper today. The newspaper of Fort Gordon. It was sorta funny no where in the paper was mentioned a movie listing of what would be playing this weekend.

Simon Overton; How’s this?

ATTENTION U.S. ARMY, MARINE CORPS, NAVY, AIR FORCE COAST GUARD, VETERANS AND DEPENDENTS, HELP!

This is only number 2 of 135 operating U.S. Army Air Force Exchange Service, Reel Time Theaters, I hope to list on Cinema Treasures. This does not include U.S. Marine Corps, Navy, and Coast Guard Theaters that are operating. Also not included are theaters that are not operating or have been demolished on U.S. Military Installations both operating and closed. It must be THOUSANDS OF THEATERS!

PLEASE ADD THEATERS YOU KNOW ABOUT OR ADD COMMENTS OR PHOTOS. REMEMBER THE GENERAL PUBLIC CAN’T HELP US ON THESE THEATERS!

Bob,for the life of me I don’t think they are running 35mm movies. It is a large lecture hall on the bottom of SIGNAL TOWERS a ten or nine story office building. I have been in it. When the weekend hits at Fort Gordon the enlisted men and officers alike are in entertainment establishments in Augusta,Be it Moviegoing,Dining out or bars.Anyways, anyone can get on base it is no big deal,But I will try and check on it for you, Oh, I have that info you wanted on the GRAND THEATRE. I found a LIBERTY THEATRE on Camp Hancock, before it became Fort Gordon back in the very early 1900’s,but wasn’t sure if it played movies. So didn’t want to include it on CT.

Mike; Before you made your comment did you look at the Google Map to see the location of the Signal THEATER? Did you look at the Website to see what what movies are playing? Would they be out on DVD? I don’t think you did that before you made your comment!

Before you jump to any more conclusions, you must know someone in Augusta who can get you on the installation and into the theater and up in the booth? We want a full report!

Be sure to pick up a copy of the Movie Schedule at the Theater, Blimpies, Godfathers Pizza, Troop Burger King or Main PX Food Court, for the collection you have of that sort of thing.

Like I said in a former comment many moons ago…
It would be most interesting to list the countless cinema/theater auditoriums located on the military bases all across the U.S.

Left out “not” as in “not consider it a movie theatre”.

They must be DVD showings. If it is the theatre inside Signal Towers it looks more like a large college lecture hall. I have been in it and i would consider it a movie theatre.Certainly not like the other two theatres on Fort Gordon I put on.

On the Google Map I THINK it is one of the 2 buildings southwest of of the red dot (the other building is an indoor swiming pool).

Anyone have more info or photos? ESPECIALLY ACTIVE DUTY, RESERVE, RETIRED,OR CIVILIAN WHO HAVE ACCESS TO THE INSTALLATION! I could get on the post, but I’m near Chicago, DARN.
