This shows the location. Town Hall Square is off to the left, the Alhambra Theatre and the (then) New Victoria cinema are off to the right. There was a block of buildings to pass at the bottom of Manchester Road before the Odeon was reached.

‘Sixty Glorious Years’ is being shown, which was in the week commencing Monday 26 December 1938. A year later, there was the wartime blackout.
