Eldorado Cinema

Located in the town of Mechelen (also known as Malines) between Antwerp and Brussels. The Eldorado Cinema opened on 25th March 1949. Designed by architect Rie Hann of Antwerp, it was a large modern cinema with seating provided in orchestra and balcony levels. Fluted columns along the side-walls were down-lit, while the diamond chequer-board patterned ceiling was illuminated by a recess around its edge containing concealed lighting.
