The Hillcrest Twin Theatre opened its doors on December 10, 1971 with “Law Man” in Screen 1 and “Black Beauty” in Screen 2. A third screen was added in 1981. Roth Theatres closed the theater in 1992 because of the Hillcrest Mall’s bankruptcy, and was demolished on March 31, 1993.

“LAWMAN” was a dang good movie from one of my favorites Burt Lancaster thanks for that info. Irvin-Fuller ran the Carolinas.

PLEASE ADD TO ADDRESS:

1919 EAST MAIN STREET

SCREENS: TRIPLEX

Open ~December 10, 1971-~1993 approximate? Anyone care to verify the exact dates?

Open as a Twin, became 3 screens in 1981.

Owners:

1980 Irvin-Filler Theaters
1985 Carolina Cinema Corp. (Roth)
1990 Roth

Was in the Hillcrest Shopping Center, Featuring ULTRA-VISION, The New Concept in Motion Picture Persentation. You’ll See and Feel the Difference.

Because it opened as a Twin, on the first day, “All Twins Admitted Free”.

The first two movies had Burt Lancaster in LAWMAN and Mark Lester in BLACK BEAUTY.

Anyone have more info or photos?

Spartanburg reminds me of Navy Chief Marie Horton.
