Located in Richmond, North Yorkshire. The Cinema was a 572-seat stalls and balcony purpose built cinema which opened on 25th October 1915. It was designed and built by Messrs Blacketts builders.
After closing around 1959 it was converted into a bingo hall in 1960 which lasted until 1992 and a serious attempt was made to return it to cinema use — but the local council refused planning permission.
It was sold and it became a hardware and furnishing store with a false floor inserted at balcony level, velux lights put into the roof and false ceilings at both levels.
There is nothing left at all inside from its cinema days.

Strange… Being as it was a Cinema from the 1920. It do’s not need Planning Permission. I had a similar case in the 1990’s..
